It’s Your Choice

on

I recently went to a party which was supposed to be a family-friends type get together with adults and their children included.

Now I’m normally a person who hates piggy backing in these things unless there’s someone I know very well plus, I was supposed to be travelling the next morning.

So, I always say no to these gatherings but this time at the behest of my family I agreed to go, to spare my parents the earache of why the kids didn’t come.

Now that the decision was made, I got ready and set myself up mentally to enjoy while I’m there and gel with everyone.

I reach there and I see only adults , I ask where’s everyone else ? And the reply? They didn’t want to come! And my reaction in front of everyone – What the hell!? My face melted to the earth like somebody had lit a candle right under my chin and my smile couldn’t help but turn into a frown.

For the next 30mins, I was fuming. And fuming like crazy over a Sunday evening which was laid to waste especially after I was so tired from my travels before and travels ahead.

Me and my brother immediately said let’s Uber home right now and then obviously out of courtesy no one wanted to let us leave. And believe me when I say – it was awkward.

So we ordered food immediately and I sat in the corner (thank god for the dim lighting) pretending the others didn’t exist and started writing this piece you’re reading right now while the others did cheers and whoo to friendship and whatnot while I mentally I said why oh why did I not listen to my heart! Why did I not say no like every time!

Some chakna (Hindi for snacks that are usually served with drinks) some dim sum and some Sushi later my mind finally started on the positive thinking track.

I decided I’m not going to let anyone control the outcome of my time. No sir I will not.

Just the previous night I had heard someone talking about everything happening for reason. They said that no matter where you are there is always always always a good reason for you being there. So you’re never in the wrong place at the wrong time, you’re always at the right place at the right time.

With that thought I mentally said to myself – this is the chance to put this philosophy to action. Despite my revolting ego telling me to stay mad with a sullen face, I started giving out thoughts like – what if I meet my dream man tonight? What if I meet an influential personality who could potentially change my life? What if I meet my next business opportunity right here right now?

After a few minutes of changing my frequency, I started feeling better. My ego was still shouting but the noise was now fainter.

They say you are literally creating reality every single second with the thoughts you think and the way they make you feel. With the process of reaching for better feeling thoughts, my perspective changed and I was suddenly aware of the amazing ambience the place had and the seriously good live music playing and hence, all of a sudden I started enjoying my own company.

I came home with a stomach full with good food and mind full with lessons learned.

I had learnt my lesson of always listening to others but keeping the veto with myself in every situation. But I learnt something even more important – that we don’t have any wasted moments if we use them well and with that I had stepped one level up in my manifestation game.

Not only did I not let my blood pressure rise but also who knows I might have just set in motion my next big thing and so I slept calmly telling myself that this is exactly how this Sunday was supposed to go. Maybe I got saved from something bad had I been home.

Some days it’s important for things not to go our way. Some days it’s important to fume and feel frustrated.

It builds mental muscle. 💪🏼

So if you’re at a place where you really don’t want to be, or at a place where you feel you don’t belong, remember that it’s your time to advance and make a shift in thoughts because you’re always meant to be where you are right now trending onwards and upwards. Always.

It’s just about how you look at it. It’s your choice.
