Despite being a writer, I never ever enjoyed writing things down with my hands! I would never practise writing exams before the actual day. And thatās why the idea of journaling NEVER made sense to me !Ā
Iād hear people going gaga over it and saying how much it helped them and I remember trying out journaling for the first time when I was 10 or 11 but I just didnāt get it!Ā
Oh and donāt even get me started on journaling prompts – those felt like an absolute sham to me!
But. I recently got into Shadow Work. Where I was given prompts to journal about! I was told that the only single way it will work is if I write it on a paper in my handwriting- old school style.Ā I always thought whatās the need for writing if I already know what Iām about to write and everything is already there in my head!Ā
Or thatās what I thought !Ā So I forcefully started doing itā¦
At first Iād throw the pen and paper away in frustration feeling like it was a complete waste of time – no one was going to read it, I already know everything and itās not helping me , instead itās forcing me to relive my worst moments! I was going to give up on it for the 15273746th time until I got the advice āyouāre thinking too much, just write. Donāt think, just keep writingā.Ā
Today I thank the stars that I took that advice!
I started carrying a journal with me and kept writing – every time something triggered me, everything I felt low, every time I felt angry.Ā I would just express as I would to a close friend and I would ask why I felt this and wrote about that and so on until I reached the root of that feeling.Ā
This group is my way of bringing the magic I experienced to you as well!
So, what do you say?
